O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.
Psalm 63:1-4 – ESV
David is in the desert, thirsty for the Lord. I see worship of God and dependence on God infused in David’s life.
Charles Spurgeon added a note of interest: “Chrysostom tells us that among the primitive Christians it was decreed and ordained that no day should pass without the public singing of this psalm.”
I depend on God for without Him and without my dependence upon Him I am toast. I am leaning on the Cross today. Lord help me to have this attitude of gratitude and adoration everyday!
Spend some time today meditating on vs. 3 and 4. God’s love is our life, because His love bought our life in Christ! Let praise spill authentically from your heart today in response to our God’s great, unfailing, and relentless love!
Thank You Jesus for being relentless in my life. You never give up on me!
